Chapter 01
When a chip is past repairing
There are four situations where we will tell you it is a replacement rather than a repair, and they are worth knowing before you come in. Cracks longer than about three inches. Chips larger than a quarter. Damage sitting in the driver line of sight. Damage at the edge of the glass.
The edge case is the one people argue with. Damage near the perimeter undermines the bond between glass and body, and the windshield is a structural part of the car, so that one is not negotiable.

Glass, adhesive and cure time
We fit quality glass and use the correct urethane adhesive for the vehicle, applied to a properly prepared pinch weld. A bead laid onto a dirty or rusty flange will not hold no matter what glass sits on it.
Then the car waits for the adhesive to reach safe drive-away strength. That waiting is the step a rushed job skips, and it is the step that matters, because in a rollover the windshield helps hold the roof up and supports the passenger airbag as it deploys.
